Ptichka OK - 1.02

The model 1.02 built in 1988 was the second shuttle of a series of 5. It was named Ptichka ("Птичка" in Russian means "little bird"), or Buria ("Буря" in Russian means "Storm"), even if those names are informal.

Ptichka was almost finished when the Energia-Buran project was stopped in 1993. Completion was evaluated to 95-97%. It remained to assemble some electronic instruments. It was the only shuttle equipped with the survival crew system. Its first flight was planned for 1993 to join MIR station in automatic mode. This mission never took place and the future launchs were dedicated to the American shuttle. Ptichka is now property of the Kazakhstan.

Ptichka, like Buran, was stored with lot of attention in MIK building, but it has been moved. On the right picture Ptichka is on an Energia launcher for tests on the launch pad (may be in 1989).

Since years it has been moved to the MZK building, near the test shuttle OK-MT.
